For Once, An Interesting Circus Act

She sailed through the air with the greatest of ease,
The daring young girl on the flying trapeze,
Her body swung gracefully through the night air,
Swinging with elegant, consummate flair.
She leapt from the bar with precision and hope,
But her partner was still climbing up the main rope.
And those in the audience, who weren’t asleep
Watched open-mouthed as she made her last leap.
And, as she came down with a sickening splat,
The whole of the crowd roared approval at that.
