The Slippery Slope

I ski-ed with vigour down the hill,
My mother just behind.
I wanted to go faster still,
Though Mam was not inclined.
“Slow down! Slow down!” she yelled at me
“You’re going much too fast.
Please stop your crass tomfoolery!”
She yelled at me aghast
“This surface is like broken eggs.
You’ll hurt yourself, just see.
And if perchance you break your legs,
Don’t come running to me.”
