A Shitty End

He heaved away the manhole lid,
Panting deeply as he did.
Then gazed down deep into the hole,
A pitiable, troubled soul.
With shaking hands and ruptured breath,
He contemplated his own death.
“Goodbye, world,” he shouted lamely,
Then jumped into the manhole gamely.
Shortly afterwards he died,
Verdict – death by sewercide.
